Donate

You have the power to shape the future of Congregation Beth Elohim through the financial and estate-planning decisions you make today.

Donations, as well as dues and special fundraisers, in large part support the multi-million dollar annual budget that pays for Brooklyn’s largest and most active congregation. Your gift sustains a full range of religious services, our early childhood education center, religious school and adult education programs, and CBE’s many arts, cultural and social activities.

For more information about making a donation or any of the funds, please call CBE’s Director of Development, Debbie Nelson, at (718) 768-3814 ext. 218 or dnelson@cbebk.org.

Thank you for your support of our beloved congregation.

Donate Online

Gifts may be made online through PayPal, the secure payment system used throughout the world. When making a donation online, please specify the purpose of the gift; if no purpose is specified, the contribution will be applied toward CBE Operating Support.

Annual Yom Kippur Appeal
The annual Yom Kippur appeal has a long-standing history with CBE. Money raised through the Annual Yom Kippur Appeal supports everything we do each year – programs for education, lifecycle events, holidays, social action and community-building; maintenance of our buildings; technical infrastructure; and salaries for our clergy, professional, administrative and custodial staff. A contribution to the Annual Yom Kippur Appeal also ensures that no member of our congregation is turned away for financial reasons.

Shaarei Tzedek Challenge
At such a pivotal time for Congregation Beth Elohim, the Board wishes to set an example for fellow congregants by increasing its own support. The Board encourages and challenges all members to do the same.

With hope and solidarity, we make this promise to every member: if your gift this year is more than last year, we will honor your generosity and contribute another $100 to the Annual Fund in your name.

Donate Stock

CBE is pleased to accept donations of publicly traded securities. Electronic delivery of stock shares is the most secure and expedient delivery process available and provides efficient internal control as well as cost savings. However, you may also transfer certificates directly.

How it works:

  1. You transfer securities to CBE.
  2. CBE sells your securities and uses the proceeds for its programs.

Benefits:

  • You receive gift credit and an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the date of transfer, no matter what you originally paid for them.
  • You pay no capital gains tax on the securities you donate.
  • You can direct your gift to a specific fund or purpose.
  • You have the satisfaction of making a significant gift now or funding a life-income gift that benefits CBE later.

Notification of Donor Intent
Regardless of the method chosen to deliver a gift of stock, the donor or the transferring broker must provide the following information, for audit and acknowledgement purposes: the donor’s name and complete address and the name and number of securities transferred.

You may provide a letter or send an email to communicate this information at time of transfer to:

Make A Bequest

CBE has grown to be a beacon of Jewish congregational life. Estate gifts have played a critical role in enabling CBE to serve its 700 member families and the Brooklyn community. By naming Congregation Beth Elohim as a beneficiary of your estate, you will give the gift of Jewish worship, learning and community in the years to come.

We recommend that you consult your estate-planning professional about including CBE in your plans. Please contact CBE’s Development Department for sample wording that might be used to include Congregation Beth Elohim in wills and bequests.

Thank you for your support of our beloved congregation.
