Shabbat for Families
Shir L’Shabbat One of the most joyous weekly events at CBE, Shir L’Shabbat, held every Saturday at 9:30 AM, is a morning filled with music and celebration. Led by Debbie Brukman, CBE’s extraordinary song leader, and many other musical parents, this is a weekly Shabbat party not to be missed! Please see the Event Calendar for the most up-to-date location information. Tot Shabbat Tot Shabbat is on the first Friday of each month at 6:00pm. This spirited service is the perfect way to usher in Shabbat. Beginning with music and prayer, we follow each service with a community dinner. Come enjoy friendly faces, good food, and fun. Please register the Wednesday beforehand for the dinner. Shira Beshsisi (Singing on Friday) Israeli-style Shabbat—held the last Friday of every month in the CBE ballroom. The program will start on September 2012. At the heart of the program’s successful community-building is the Israeli- style Shabbat. Growing numbers of families gather for an authentically-Israeli evening of live music, food, poetry, dancing and personal story-sharing. The evening is self-led by the community of Israelis together with American and other immigrant families who are drawn to its spirit and energy. An Israeli song-leader and musician leads families to share blessings or stories about their lives. Kiddush and potluck dinner follows, and then an Israeli-style song-session commonly known as Shira Betzibur (‘singing in community’). The free-flowing spirit of the program creates opportunities for authentic communication and the community experience engenders interpersonal ties that continue via social gatherings and the online community of IsraelisinBrooklyn.org. |
