Hold your event at Congregation Beth Elohim

Congregation Beth Elohim, founded in 1861, is one of the fastest growing and most vibrant synagogues in New York City. CBE, also known as Garfield Temple, has been named “one of America’s 25 most vibrant congregations” by Newsweek, which hailed CBE for “quickly adapting to Brooklyn’s exciting, young population.” Open to people from a variety of backgrounds who honor our traditions and values, CBE serves as a hub for members and for the surrounding community as well. It is a place of worship, dedicated to honoring Jewish traditions, and also a place of learning, a place to socialize, to celebrate and to actively engage with the world, a synagogue center energizing and enriching our Jewish community through study, ritual and acts of loving-kindness.

Congregation Beth Elohim is delighted to help you with your next event. Whether it is for a dinner for 20 or a wedding for 200, we are here to make your event a spectacular one. We have different event spaces available for every type of function for your lifecycle events, including:

  • Celebratory Dinners
  • Meetings

What is included in the rentals?

All CBE rentals include tables and chairs (plus the man-power to set up and take down furniture).

Whenever possible, most events are permitted access to A/V equipment, easels, screens and  other select CBE equipment and furniture.

Additional inventory may be rented for an additional fee (dishes, glasses, silverware, linens, coffee  service, etc).

CBE is responsible for preparing, restoring and cleaning the room after use.

CBE is not responsible for handling the set-up or breakdown of food.  The only exception is coffee  and soda ordered through the Temple.

How long is the rental period?

The rental period for most events is 4 hours – except the Ballroom rental period is for 6 hours.

The rental period for children’s birthday parties is 2 hours.

        How do you reserve space?

Renters are expected to sign a contract and leave a deposit before space can be confirmed.

Are there any restrictions with regards to food and alcohol?

CBE has a list of approved caterers.

CBE does not allow pork or shellfish.

There are no Kosher restrictions –however out of respect, we ask food service be Kosher-style.

        Are the facilities handicapped accessible?

The Rotunda is ADA accessible.  The Temple House is not.

There is an elevator in the Sanctuary and Rotunda.

There is a chair lift in the Temple House to assist guests going to the 2nd floor.

Is there wireless access in all the rooms at CBE?

There is wireless access in most spaces in the Temple House and Rotunda.

CBE cannot guarantee it’s signal strength or effectiveness during events.

Is there access to A/V equipment (microphones, speakers, projectors, screens, easels, etc)?

Most renters are permitted access to easels, screens, projects, mics, and speakers.

With few exceptions, the Ballroom sound system can only be used by CBE events.

The screen onstage in the ballroom can be used for presentations.

The projector can connect with a laptop.  There is a standard VGA cable available that works with               most PCs.  Macs require a special connector.
