LGBT Life at CBE

Home » Community & Learning

CBE is committed to promoting LGBT equality and celebrates the LGBT families, relationships, and individuals who are part of the rich fabric of our congregation. To further this commitment, CBE’s LGBT Working Group is exploring ways to re-imagine Jewish ritual and language to make them more inclusive and supportive. We are shifting the curricular emphasis of CBE’s education programs so that as they continue to celebrate Jewish family life, they do so in a way that genuinely reflects the diversity of families at CBE and in the wider community. The LGBT Working Group also publicly advocate for full social and legal rights for all LGBT individuals.

As our clergy continue to stress, the project of LGBT equality is one of the crucial issues of our time, and we recognize this work as important to the entirety of our congregation and community. We welcome LGBT families and individuals to join the congregation, and we encourage them and their allies to join the efforts of the LGBT Working Group.

If you are interested in participating in the working group, or learning more about the LGBT experience at CBE, please contact us at LGBT.CBE@gmail.com.

Charitable giving is an important part of Judaism and is vital to our congregation. We depend on your act of generosity and kindness - of Tzedakah - to support our programs and facilities and help us meet the needs of our growing and diverse synagogue community.
