Calendar for PS295

Credit card form available here.

At Congregation Beth Elohim’s After School Center your child can play chess on Monday, take a theater class on Tuesday and launch a rocket on Friday. CBE’s program offers children in kindergarten through sixth grade a wide variety of instructional classes and recreational activities in a safe and caring environment, supervised by a highly qualified staff. Our program encourages children to express themselves and their creativity in a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. Children can sign up for a single class—or the whole afternoon.

The CBE After School Center is offering two on-site programs at PS 295 and PS 39. We are offering several exciting enrichment classes; sports (soccer and hockey), ballet, hip hop, cooking, circus arts, hands on science, puppetry. Children are escorted to CBE for swimming.

Questions? Please call us at 718-768-3814, ext. 210 or 211, or email Bobbie Finkelstein at bfinkelstein@cbebk.org.

Schedule

The program operates on a trimester basis, Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:45 PM (Extended hours are available until 6:30 PM for a small additional fee.) Registration information for Fall 2012 will be available soon!

Pick-up

The After School Center provides a pick-up service from many neighborhood schools, including PS 321, 282, 372, 39, 10 and Berkeley Carroll. Our staff will pick-up from local schools that have at least five children attending the After-School Center per day. If there are fewer than five children attending per day, pick-up is up to the discretion of the Director.

The Program

Kindergarten and first grade: Classes for children in kindergarten through sixth grade are offered from 3:30 – 4:30 PM. Children spend the second hour with their counselors and group doing choice time in a preschool classroom or playing active games in the social hall. During nice weather we use Prospect Park for outdoor play. Counselors escort the children to their activities throughout the day. A supervised homework room is available to first graders. There is a minimum two-day registration for these grades. There is no minimum for single classes. Courses include cooking, computers, art, dance, sports, science, gymnastics, karate and instructional swim.

Second through sixth grades: Children in second through sixth grade can sign up for one class per day from our course listing. In each course the child’s individual ability is emphasized, from basic through more advanced skills. When the child is not participating in a class, a supervised game room, gym and homework room are available. Courses include chess, photography, art, jewelry, dance, sports, gymnastics, computer, swim, video, theater and computer.

Swimming and Sports

We are one of the few after-school programs to offer swimming on-site in a spacious, heated pool, as well as sports activities in a fully equipped gymnasium.

Single Class Option

Single-class registration allows a child to attend the program only during the scheduled class hour.

Special Programs

Mini camps: The After School Center offers mini camps during winter, mid winter and spring recess. Our full-day program includes trips, special events and on-site activities such as art, swimming, gymnastics, cooking and sports.

Half-day coverage: We also offer programming when school closes early for parent teacher conferences, staff development and clerical days for a small additional fee.

Music lessons: Individual music lessons are available for a separate fee for the following instruments: piano, guitar, violin, recorder, clarinet, and saxophone.

Homework clinic: We offer a homework enrichment program tutorial program — with a three-to-one child-to-staff ratio — to enhance basic skills.

Charitable giving is an important part of Judaism and is vital to our congregation. We depend on your act of generosity and kindness - of Tzedakah - to support our programs and facilities and help us meet the needs of our growing and diverse synagogue community.
